ACOUSTIC GUITAR STRINGS LIGHT: .012 .016 .024w .032 .042 .053
Nothing has had a bigger impact on stringmaking in recent years than the introduction of the coated guitar string by Elixir in the 1990s. Now it seems like every stringmaker has a coated string. But Elixir did it first and has stayed at the top of the heap, having been overwhelmingly named as the winner in the 2002 Acoustic Guitar Magazine Players Choice Awards.
The NanoWeb coated strings of this set have the bright and lively sound of uncoated strings. The coating is only applied to the phosphor bronze wound strings and is done after winding. The NanoWeb coating is so micro-thin that you can hardly tell it is there.
The NanoWebs feel much more like a conventional string and do not have the wet feel of the PolyWebs. As a result, the NanoWebs' reduction in finger squeak is not as great. However, the coating still does its job, protecting the windings and core from sweat, oils, grit, and grime. Most players report that Elixirs can last anywhere from 2 to 5 times longer than uncoated strings.
ElixirŪ Strings are only available for shipment to addresses in the United States, U.S. Territories & Possessions, and APO FPO destinations.
