D'Addario EFT16 Flat Tops Phosphor Bronze Light (12-53)
  ACOUSTIC GUITAR STRINGS LIGHT: .012 .016 .024w .032 .042 .053
We constantly field questions about flat wound acoustic guitar strings. Truthfully, we haven't found any where all the wound strings are truly flat wounds. But, since most players who ask for flat wound acoustic strings are really just wanting to reduce their finger noise, we offer what we believe is a better alternative --- D'Addario Flat Tops.
The Flat Tops begin life as a round wound set. Then, using a precision-grinding process, the round tops of the windings are ground off to a flatter surface. D'Addario's three polishing steps smooth out the flattened playing surface for a great feel.
A true flat wound string would be somewhat dull-sounding and rather stiff. In contrast, the Flat Tops are bright, flexible, and exhibit much less finger noise, making the Flat Tops an excellent choice for noise-free recording. The flattened surface also contributes to the even, balanced tone and even reduces fret wear. And you can always count on D'Addario for a durable, long-lasting string. Try them out!
